It’s go time

Come experience the wonders of southwestern Colorado — from the mountain streams and peaks to the charming towns and historic destinations.

Rafting, kayaking, and more

From a relaxing paddle to a thrilling whitewater rafting trip, there are plenty of ways to explore the area by water. That includes boating at nearby Vallecito Lake.

Fishing

The campground has guest-only fishing spots that we stock with trout every year. Or, fish your way across southwestern Colorado at the many other rivers, reservoirs, and lakes.

Steam-powered train

Take a trip back in time aboard the historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. It’s the perfect way to take in the area’s rugged mountain terrain — 1800s style.

Hiking

Southwestern Colorado is a hiker’s paradise. Grab your pack and head into the beautiful San Juan National Forest, seeking waterfalls, alpine lakes, or simply solitude.

Mountain biking

From easy to extremely difficult, the nearby mountain biking trails will test your skills and endurance. If e-bikes are your thing, you can do that, too.

Adventure tours

Explore the area’s pristine wilderness on horseback or by ATV or Jeep. Plenty of local tour and rental groups will get you moving, at your speed.

Walk to the town of Bayfield

We’re close, but not too close, to town. It’s about a 10-minute walk.

Charming towns

The historic, picturesque towns of Durango and Pagosa Springs sit to the west and east of us, respectively. Fish the Animas River in the middle of Duragno. Or, experience the hot springs in Pagosa Springs. You’ll also find plenty of restaurants, breweries, art galleries, events, and more.

Ancient wonders

Gaze in awe at the cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde National Park. They’re some of the best preserved in all of North America. The park, a World Heritage Site, has tours and hiking, in addition to the jaw-dropping views. The Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum is also nearby.
